Kennett High School

Over the summer, Missouri State Vice President of Membership and Advisor Shayna Tilmon traveled to Seattle Washington to attend the FCCLA National Leadership Conference. We attended various leadership and professional development sessions while networking with other FCCLA officers, members, and advisors. We were able to see the Space Needle, Puget Sound, the Seattle Aquarium, and experience many more educational opportunities!

Come help us "Stuff The Bus!!" We will be at Walmart from 9:00-3:00 today. The annual Walmart, Stuff The Bus school supply drive helps provide area students with the supplies they need to be successful. It's a GREAT DAY TO BE AN INDIAN!

The FCC School Health Clinic is offering FREE Sports Physicals August 14, 9am-4pm. Physicals are required every 2 years for students participating in athletics and band.

KHS senior Handley McAtee brings home the top award at this year's annual SEMOBALL Awards in Cape Girardeau, being named Female Athlete of the Year. McAtee, along with doubles partner Claire Bean, also won female tennis athletes of the year. KHS had 9 nominees at the 2024 SEMOBALL Awards.  Nominees included: Handley McAtee/Claire Bean-Girl’s Tennis Doubles Players of the Year Christi Tejeda-Girls Tennis Individual Player of the Year Alyce Edwards-Girl’s Basketball Player of the Year Kevin Thompson-Track Athlete of the Year Ashton Williams-Baseball Athlete of the Year Handley McAtee-Softball Athlete of the Year John Clinton Poole-Male Scholar Athlete of the Year Christi Tejeda-Female Scholar Athlete of the Year Congratulations to all of our KHS athletes nominated! Great day for Kennett Indian track!! Kevin Thompson took home third place in class 3 in discus!! Alyce Edwards placed 11th in long jump!! KHS girls 4x400 team finished 16th. It's a GREAT DAY TO BE AN INDIAN!!!!

Helping Families Access Food During the Summer Missouri is currently awaiting approval on a new program called ‘Missouri SuN Bucks,’ aimed at helping families buy groceries for their school-aged children during the summer. At this time, Missouri SuN Bucks is pending approval. However, parents should start preparing for when the program launches. The Missouri Department of Social Services is grateful to your school in partnering with us by including the above image in your emails or newsletters to parents. This information gives a high-level overview of the program and encourages parents to subscribe for email alerts and to update their address if they have SNAP or Temporary Assistance.

Graduation Practice will begin at 9:00 am in the gym. We will take the picture after practice in caps and gowns outside. Wear shoes for wet grass.

**TIME CHANGE** The District Baseball game v. Dexter has been moved up due to weather to 2:00 today at Dexter.

**POSTPONEMENT** Graduation practice is postponed to Tuesday, May 14, picture at 9:00 am sharp in the stadium. Graduates be in the stadium with caps and gowns no later than 8:45.

The KHS Stadium will be closed starting May 17 for approximately three weeks while we resurface and repaint the track. Thank you for your patience with this, as we are excited to see the improvements! Dr. Leeker

**Time Change** The senior sports banquet will start at 6:00 tonight in anticipation of incoming inclement weather.
