Today was a great day at Kennett #39!
I had the pleasure of spending the day with Maverick Stokley, a 2nd Grade student at Masterson Elementary, who served as our “Superintendent for the Day.” Maverick earned this opportunity after his parents were the high bidders at the Masterson Elementary Sweets and Treats auction, an event that supports so many wonderful projects and student activities at Masterson Elementary.
Throughout the day, Maverick jumped right in and got a firsthand look at what it means to lead a school district. We even approved several purchase orders that will help support our staff and students, important work that keeps our district moving forward!
We made stops at each campus across the district, visiting with staff and students along the way. We made a quick stop by one of Maverick’s grandparents’ houses while traveling between campuses, just another memorable moment from a full and exciting day.
One of the biggest lessons Maverick learned today was the importance of being a good listener.
We also had some fun visiting staff across the district and hearing some of the things they currently need. Let’s just say there were some great suggestions… higher wages, Sonic drinks, Causbie's Bakery treats, iced coffee, and even more vacation time made the list!
Thank you to Maverick and his family for supporting our schools, and to Masterson Elementary for hosting such a meaningful event. It’s experiences like this that remind us how strong our school community truly is.
