Mrs. Franklin is the Kennett Middle School Counselor Secretary. Her nomination form states, "Mrs. Franklin is a great asset to our school. She always goes above and beyond in her duties. This can be as simple as greeting students with a smile, filling in the gaps to help cover areas of need, or fostering an inclusive environment for the staff. I have also witnessed her interactions with students. She always has a positive outlook and is ready to help them with whatever they need. After reviewing the latest information from the National Weather Service and speaking with the Dunklin County Emergency Management Officials, the Kennett #39 School District will remain in session as planned. We will continue to monitor the weather and provide updates as needed.

After consulting with local and national weather services about the April 4th forecast, Kennett School District #39 will monitor the situation and may dismiss early. We appreciate your cooperation and the school staff on duty. Also, please remember per the FEMA policy, you must provide proper documentation if bringing an animal.





Due the nature of the potential hazardous weather, the FEMA building located at Kennett High School is now open.

After consulting with local and national weather services about the April 2nd forecast, Kennett School District #39 will monitor the situation and may dismiss early. As always, updates will be shared via Thrillshare. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority during this weather event.

During normal school hours (7:30 AM -3:30 PM) when a tornado warning is issued (tornado sirens activated) by the Dunklin County’s Emergency Management Director, all campuses will follow their building protocols and procedures for hazardous weather. All students will be evacuated to their designated safe areas on their campus. In the event of a Tornado Warning, the FEMA building will be open and utilized by the students of KHS and open to the patrons of the district as well. Patrons surrounding the Safe Room will be expected to follow the protocols and procedures of the school district.
The weather will continue to be monitored by the Field Manager and the Safe Room will remain open until the severe weather has abated and the National Weather Service has canceled the warnings and watches or they have expired.
