Statement Regarding the Conclusion of the Semi-final, Final Four High School Softball Game
The Kennett School District and the Athletic Department are aware of the concerns and strong emotions surrounding the final moments of the semi-finals of the Final Four softball game held on Tuesday, May 27 between the Kennett Indians and Diamond Wildcats.
We recognize that this was a hard-fought game by both teams, and we commend the athletes, coaches, and supporters for their dedication and sportsmanship throughout the season. The ending of the game has sparked considerable discussion, and we understand that for many, it felt unexpected and disappointing.
As a district that values fairness, integrity, and the positive development of student-athletes, we are currently reviewing all relevant aspects of the game’s conclusion. Our goal is not only to ensure that the rules of play were properly upheld, but also to learn from this experience to better support our student-athletes and their competitive spirit.
We respectfully ask our community to join us in continuing to model respectful dialogue and sportsmanship, even in the face of controversy.
No further comments will be made until the review is complete. We thank everyone for their continued support of our athletes and programs.
Sincerely,
Nathan Baker
Assistant Superintendent/Activities Director
Kennett School District

Thank you to Mav Stokley for working with Mr. Baker this morning as the Assistant "Assistant" Superintendent. Mav was able to help with making sure breakfast was delivered to the maintenance department, visited every campus, made sure the buses were in good shape, met some custodians, set up the metal detectors and made sure the microphone was working for the KHS awards assembly. Mav also had the opportunity to show how good he was talking on the radio. It was a pleasure to work with such a hard worker.
