Today, we celebrated a truly special moment for Kennett #39 School District and the future of education!
Congratulations to Lillianna Wilson, Dalton Bailey, and Lily Gee, who were each selected by the Kennett Education Foundation to receive $32,000 scholarships as they pursue careers in education. Your commitment to making a difference in the lives of others is inspiring, and we are incredibly proud of you!
A sincere thank you to the Kennett Education Foundation, especially President Kristen McPherson, for your continued investment in our students and our community. We also appreciate the support of our Board of Education, including Board President Mr. Matt Shetley, our Building Administration Team, and our Future Teachers of America representatives, led by Ashley Jewell and Shelby Sutton.
It was a great day celebrating these outstanding students and the bright future ahead, not just for them, but for the students they will one day teach.

Way to go, KHS Freshman Class! 🎉
On April 30, KHS 9th graders completed their 6th and final session of Teen Mental Health First Aid. Each student is now a certified teen Mental Health First Aider! 👏
Through this training, students gained valuable skills to support friends who may be experiencing or developing a mental health or substance use challenge. They learned the tMHFA 5-Step Action Plan, explored different types of mental health challenges, and discussed how to respond to crisis situations.
Our freshmen are now better equipped to recognize warning signs, respond with care, and involve a trusted adult. We are so proud of their commitment to supporting one another and building a stronger, more compassionate school community. 💙

We have been closely monitoring today’s weather conditions, working with our local emergency management team, and reviewing updates from the National Weather Service.
Due to the potential for severe weather, including high winds and large hail, and inclement weather anticipated around our regular dismissal time and during bus routes, we will dismiss early today at 2:00 PM to ensure all students can return home safely with their families.
Please be prepared and have a plan in place for this early dismissal. We will continue to communicate any additional updates through our usual channels.
Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff

Today was a great day at Kennett #39!
I had the pleasure of spending the day with Maverick Stokley, a 2nd Grade student at Masterson Elementary, who served as our “Superintendent for the Day.” Maverick earned this opportunity after his parents were the high bidders at the Masterson Elementary Sweets and Treats auction, an event that supports so many wonderful projects and student activities at Masterson Elementary.
Throughout the day, Maverick jumped right in and got a firsthand look at what it means to lead a school district. We even approved several purchase orders that will help support our staff and students, important work that keeps our district moving forward!
We made stops at each campus across the district, visiting with staff and students along the way. We made a quick stop by one of Maverick’s grandparents’ houses while traveling between campuses, just another memorable moment from a full and exciting day.
One of the biggest lessons Maverick learned today was the importance of being a good listener.
We also had some fun visiting staff across the district and hearing some of the things they currently need. Let’s just say there were some great suggestions… higher wages, Sonic drinks, Causbie's Bakery treats, iced coffee, and even more vacation time made the list!
Thank you to Maverick and his family for supporting our schools, and to Masterson Elementary for hosting such a meaningful event. It’s experiences like this that remind us how strong our school community truly is.
